About Keith Ledger

All About Keith Ledger

I was born in Chobham in Surrey where my grandfather was the Blacksmith and Farrier for many years. My father was a Precision Engineer, Fitter and Turner and toolmaker. From a child I have been fascinated by working with my hands but my love of nature and the outdoors drew me to eventually train as a Master Dry Stone Waller following my move to North Yorkshire in 1989.

Over the years I have been fortunate enough to hold a number of titles in Dry Stone Walling, including the Open Champion for County Durham, the Yorkshire Guild Champion and the Countryside Landowner's Association Champion. Although my competitive days are behind me now, my expertise is frequently called for to help out at events like the Great Yorkshire Show, other local shows and in judging competitions for Stone Walling, like the Countryside Landowner's Association. I also enjoy training others in Dry Stone Walling, both at the Basic and Masters level.

As a result of my work I frequently appear in the local press and radio, but have even done a video diary for Countryfile on the BBC and appeared, with my Harris Hawk on BBC Look North.
My Harris Hawk, Bomber, often accompanies me to work and we can both be seen out and about in the North Yorkshire countryside.
Alternatively, you may see me out on the road on my motorbike, joining the many other middle aged men relieving their youth once more!
